Hi, friends ...
Our prayers go out with the Huicholes this weekend and on this February Full Moon night. The Huicholes are tribal and Peyote people of Mexico who are world wide known for the incredibly psychedelic art they produce. They are coming together in Real de Catorce right now for an unprecedented event, to hold a sacred ceremony with several hundreds medicine man, children, and woman, because the sacred territory of Wirikuta, where the Peyote grows, is under monumental threat, not only by a billion dollar silver mining company who wants to ravage the second holy mountain of the Huicholes, after mining companies have already destroyed the other mountain that was holy to the Huicholes.  But there are gold mining companies who have chosen to desecrate everything within a hundred mile radius inside the declared sacred zone. The corrupt governments and drug mafias are all under one hood, together with the mining companies, going against ancient medicine culture, and sacred medicine such as the Peyote, plus against nature in general, because this area is host to a myriad of medicinal plants and animal species, second most bio-diverse desert on the planet! We see Wirikuata as a symptom and microcosm for our planet. The Huicholes consider Wirikuta the heart of the EARTH. For these visionary people, it feels as if multinational cooperation s want to rip the heart out of our planet.
We are off to the desert in a couple hours. We will travel with the vice president of the Native American Peyote Church of America, who will be witness to what is going to happen there during this full moon. This segment will be documented by us as part of a film production that has spread itself over several years already.
If you care for ancient medicine culture and value the Huicholes as sacred patrimony of humanity, which they are, we kindly ask you to please light some candles. Make some prayers during this full moon and visualize the Wixarika and the preservation of their culture, with the incredibly inspiring art that has carried their prayers from generation to generation, of medicinal people who know by heart the essence of spirit, to be as vibrant as ever!
Hopefully we will not witness the death of a great culture, but rather the renaissance of a global medicine culture with the grand re-awakening we have all foreseen in our dreams.
