- William Ruiz's main instrument is the tongue drum and the Mayahuacan of Native American/ Taino Indian origin. Logdrums are played all over the world by indigenous peoples of Native American, African, and Asian cultures.
His CD recordings Cipriani, In New York, & Taino (all registered works in the Library of Congress) demonstrate group, solo, and ensemble music situations combining Improvisation, Jazz, & World Music forming undestracting, tranquil, medicinal relaxing music. His music has been described as serene, minimalist, rhythmic, meditational, & trance-like. By combining various percussion instruments with the 12 tongue logdrum hr creates a unique style of music that has been enjoyed on tours all over the United States, Europe, Puerto Rico, the virgin Islands, South East Asia, and the Middle East.
William has performed , recorded, and worked on stage with/ for world renowned musicians such as Reggie Workman, William Cepeda, Victor Bailey, J.T.Lewis, Yossi Fine, Jay Rodriguez, Abdou Mboup, Sam Newsome, Joe Exley, Jojo Kuo, Josh Roseman, Groove Collective, Osunlade, Uli Geissandorfer to name a few.
He has headlined events at Madison Square Garden was featured on the MSG Channel TV Series NYC Soundtracks, performed at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center Outdoors, the United Nations, CNN, has been interviewed/ performed live on Hot 97, WBAI 99.5 - NYC radio. Ruiz has performed for Kofi Annan, Mayor Bloomberg & Tavis Smiley as well as for the International Health Coalition.

Nico*las said… Greetings, William. A drummer I see. That's awesome. And also; funny that you mention 'Channeling positive energy through rainforest like rhythms' because I have heard some magnificently composed beats while wandering through nature.
On that note; I recently attended to a drum circle that was about 500+ strong. It felt great, during and after. My vibrations were high, I was happy, and I woke up the next morning with out the back pains I had been dealing with for the past month...personally I fell that music has the power to project and manifest emotion faster then anything on earth. And I love it.
