Following on from the Q&A in this thread: What's real, what's not?

I would like to ask another question of your goodness, the Starseeds.
What elements comprise consciousness??

Truth/Reality/Eternity/Existence is SAT in Sanskrit. Consciousness/Awareness/Knowledge is called CHIT. They're interdependent, as explained in the previous discussion, where we talked briefly about what defines reality from non-reality, truth from illusion.

Now I would like to discuss... 'What is consciousness?'
Any ideas? I love recieving your input, because it's exciting to see that so many of us have comparatively advanced understandings of the universe, even without being taught. Most of what people say here in these forums I can find sanskrit verses for. =)

Whew! This seems to be deeper than your last inquisitive thread, at least to me.. it seems hard to define, at least for me. I feel as though even at the very basic level, all consciousness may be the same, as in some unseen creative force that makes choices.. that there is a variety of choices to be made, even within the same, or similar experience. Do these choices, or a pattern of choices (swagger, style, persona, etc.) help to define this consciousness? I don't suppose that I know. I had thought perhaps there was a measurable difference of importance between reaction and action (reaction being instinctual, action being a "consciously" made decision), but it seems that sometimes acting on instinct can be the difference of life or death (at least of the physical body) that came frome the same place of awareness, so perhaps one is no greater than the other, but each an equal tool of life preservation and creativity. I would include destruction, as it is a possible choice as well, but to me even in destruction of something, one has "created" a mess. So what makes up consciousness? I don't know that I am any farther along in being able answer that than I was before, but I guess if I had to sum it up.. The creative life force responsible for every decision within each individual experience. Well, with my limited knowledge, that's where I am at.. But can't wait to hear other's thoughts as to broaden my own perspective and understanding. Much love and light!

Troy, what you write reminds me of an article by Joachim Wolfe found here: http://player2000gi.host-ed.net/quantum_metaphysics.htm

Here's some diagrams from it, to give you a general idea what he's talking 'bout

It seems Todd you're talking about what consciousness does, not what it is. But we like what you wrote. They're good stand alone points about experience.

Jonari... energy, light, frequency and colour, seem to me to be things that consciousness experiences, not what it is, although without a doubt consciousness contains these things, so yeah, in a sense they are aspects of consciousness.

Consciousness in our present bodily experience is broken down by sankhya yoga (deconstructive analysis) into 3 things... the MIND manas (thinking, desiring), INTELLIGENCE buddhi (discrimination), & EGO ahankara (identity).

So..

SAT: existence/eternality

CHIT: knowledge/consciousness

What results from awareness? We become aware of something and we respond emotionally. So feeling.

Emotions (or bliss rather) is ANANDA.

SAT CHIT ANANDA

The only method of expressing ANANDA is via action upon which form of some sort is dependent. VIGRAHA means form.

The Vedas describe the sun total of existence as comprised of SAT CHIT ANANDA VIGRAHA!

Existence/eternality, consciousness/knowledge, love/emotion and activity/form. =)
