I've read and thought I understood all the negative things about fear. Fear is the enemy, fear inhibits your enlightenment, so on and so forth.

But I really had no idea.

Until today.

Fear is what keeps us vibrating on a lower level. It is what keeps us from being in total control of the manifestations in our lives. We really are like gods, we really can manifest anything we want in our lives.

But it is FEAR and DOUBT that bring you down to that lower vibration. You try to attract positive things into your life, and your mind tells you "Yeah. Right" Or, "This isn't going to happen." "What if it doesn't happen, then I will have to..." worry, worry, worry. Fear, doubt. It screws up everything. You cannot have what you want if you doubt yourself. If you doubt the universe is truly listening. If you fear that you have no control. If you are afraid and doubt yourself, THEN YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY CONTROL.

I'm sure many of you have already reached this conclusion, maybe some of you haven't. But it literally blew me out of the water when I was able to completely take the reigns and make my day what I wanted it to be.

Completely out of the water.

As my day wore on, fear and doubt started to creep back up...I found it more difficult to control at that point. And it inhibited me.

I am wondering if any of you have any fear-busting techniques that you have come across on your path of enlightenment. They would be greatly appreciated. Not just by me, but by anyone else waking up and tuning into this aspect of reality.

I always try to listen to uplifting and upbeat songs at that moment in time, but I always try to accept it as well instead of denying it. That, my friend, is the key factor. We *deny* it instead of accepting it for what it is, nothing but a bundle of thoughts. =]

Thanks for the article! It helped me out some! =D

P.S. - It's a very healthy reminder, everybody should spread this article and see it in my opinion! Even if they DO know of it...
Transcending Fear: do the monster mash
^ hehe, this is a discussion I started a while ago.
I hope you enjoy it =)
Nice link, Jason. thankyou!
Yes this is the missing part of The Secret and why some people dont heal. I see people whine that thinking positive does not work and all these co creator ideas must be wrong but really only their conscious mind is thinking positive and believeing in themselves. The uncoinscious mind and other parts of themselves including stuff from past lives is likely holding fear of manifesting or believeing they are not worthy of good things.
Hello Katie!!! Yay! Glad to hear your joy and revelation! :D I too believe we are god and have the ultimate power over how we live this life, by our attitudes, perceptions, perspectives and the marvellous part is we have this glorious gift to choose. SO we can be as happy or sad as we wish, of course things happen that we may not like but we always have the choice to rise above, learn and flow. I do not believe we have the right to interfere with others journeys or take away there lessons by trying to fix others etc, for then we create expectations, more fear and are not doing what we came here to do, which i believe is heal ourselves and support others. I think we are like stones, dropped into water, our action rippling out effecting anything floating near :). Fear... False Evidence Appearing Real.... An interesting thing about fear is it's telling us something. I always ask why am I fearful... anger, hate, insecurity, ego, blame, frustration, doubt, all go back to fear- they are all of fears children. All of these "negatives" only become negative when we dwell in them too long.. What if we turned it around and ask ourselves why we feel this way? What are we projecting? A big part of being our soveriegn god-self and creating a beautiful world for ourselves is being brutally honest. We are on a human journey, it's ok to screw up, make mistakes... this is how we learn. So when I'm having a fear moment, I own it, hear it and check it out... I ask it why it's here? If it's too much, say if it's overwhelming me I surrender it to Spirit, asking for extra help by permitting those around in spirit or solid to help me. If I've messed my head and gotten into a tangled heirachy I jump out of it by distracting myself... with music, movie, meditation, friends, family, art, animals whatever it takes to get me to a calm state.
What lead me to these thoughts was reading about Vedanta. I do not profess to any set religion, however I like some stuff from a lot of them.

This is a small synopsis, interpreted by Deepak Chopra, that you may find interesting, I find it useful when dealing with fear:

Vedantic tradition has been found as far back as 1500BC and is founded on the ideology of knowing your way free from suffering. Vedanta grew from the Vedas. Veda meaning knowledge; Vedanta meaning the final conclusion of knowledge.
Vedanta aims to transcend the limitations of self-identity based on two main principles:
1) Human nature is divine.
2) The aim of human life is to realize that human nature is divine.
In Sanskrit Vedanta refers to the Upanishads, which are a set of Vedic scriptures, which deal mainly with forms of meditation. The Upanishads are commentaries on the Vedas, their putative end and essence, this known as the end of the Vedas or Vedanta.

The 5 reasons of human suffering…. The Kleshas

1) Not knowing the true nature of reality.

2) Clinging to, grasping or holding onto that which is ephemeral, transitory, illusory, insubstantial and therefore not real.

3) Aversion to, revulsion to, fear from or fear of that which is not real, transitory, illusory, ephemeral or insubstantial.

4) Identification with a false and constricted and habitual self, which we call the ego.

5) The fear of death.

All other causes of suffering can be related to these five and the last four can be found in the first Klesha so ‘Not Knowing the true nature of reality’, is the only cause of human suffering.

The true nature of reality is Brahman, which literally means ‘that’.
I am that, you are that, all this is that and that is all there is.
It is infinite, immortal, eternal, ineffable, unbounded, silent, infinite dynamism, infinite intelligence, it is whatever it is.
Brahman projects itself as the physical universe through the power of Maya. Maya literally means measurement and is also translated as illusion because we’re trying to measure the infinite or eternity, which creates the concept of time giving birth to the relative universe.
Maya refers to the womb of creation, which is the infinite unbounded womb of creation. Brahman projects itself through the power of Maya into the realm of space, time and causation.
It does so through the web of karma – our on past actions, on an individual and collective level and ultimately from a deeper more mythical level.
The remnants of karma are like seeds in our consciousness, constantly actualizing into our consciousness as our subjective experience, not the original memories themselves.
The seeds are like virtual memories of experiences, like virtual photons or virtual software that doesn’t actually exist in our brain because they’re part of the software of our souls.
Sans Kara – the potential memory – the remnants of karma.
The faint memory that somewhere there is a soul over here. We know it has something to do with us but we have no idea what it is. It’s a bit like spiritual Alzheimer’s. It is the cause of all our suffering; if we lose the soul we have the experience of suffering.
Karmic software that’s constantly actualizing into our consciousness appears as our own thoughts, memories, desires, feelings and emotions.
During day our rational mind weaves stories around this karmic software. It does so rationally and logically. We live out these stories calling it every day reality.
During night our rational mind is asleep so there is not a consistent logic to these stories. We call this dreams.
Vedanta says the mechanics of dreams and waking state of consciousness is identical. We get so caught up in the melodrama of the stories we forget who we are, like getting lost in a really good movie.
It is a tangled hierarchy. E.g.: Seer loses themselves in the scenery. Lover loses themselves in the beloved. Knower loses themselves in the objects of knowledge.
Never remembering the timeless factor in the midst of every experience. That which is the experiencer, the eye inside, the personal and collective and universal eye. If you peel the layers of your soul you go beyond the constricted fabrication, the constricted self-identity and discover whom we really are.

Vedanta says there are four ways to do this.

KARMA YOGA – always reminding yourself no matter what you’re doing you are not doing it. God/Brahman/Spirit/Your Soul does everything. We humans are the machines through which divine intelligence is working. The essence of Karma Yoga is to be established in being and perform action.
BHAKTI YOGA – love, the experience of love. Love is the ultimate reality and truth at the heart of creation. We are all the same being under different disguises and when we feel that, it is impossible to hurt or be hurt and this is compassion.
RAJA YOGA – meditation and its allied disciplines. All the different ways to dive into the gap between our thoughts. To go beyond the secret passages and dark alleys of our minds and find the part of us that does not die.
YAN YOGA – the intellectual approach that is also known as the razors edge as it is using the intellect to go beyond the intellect. In itself seeming to be a paradox, but possible to go beyond the rational mind.

Reaching Enlightenment, or knowing the true nature of reality, solves all suffering because you find out that you really are. Projected through the illusive power of Maya - we are Brahman, the ultimate reality.

VEDANTIC CONCEPTUAL MAP FOR THE DIFFERENT STATES OF
CONSCIOUSNESS
We project our reality in each state.

1) Deep Sleep – limited degree of awareness, spirit is in surveillance e.g.: when you wake from a deep sleep in an emergency.
2) Dreams – more repertoire of experience for stories woven by karmic software. The insight of the dream being a dream happens after we wake. (Except Lucid dreaming)
3) Waking State of Consciousness – when we wake from a dream we wake into another dream, equally ephemeral, transitory, insubstantial, and illusory as a sleeping dream. We participate identically in dreams as in waking state of consciousness.
4) First Glimpse of the Soul – fourth state is where we first glimpse our soul. If you shut your eyes now turn attention to who is listening. It is the ever-present witnessing awareness – the soul.
5) Cosmic Consciousness – Where the ever-present witnessing awareness perceives the unknown removing fear. It is known as the full reality of the soul.
6) When the soul is cognitive in perception relating to objects, animals, everyone as the same energy. Everything is everything.
7) Enlightenment – when you are fully aware that everything is the same energy.

Wonderfully, as I practise more fear removal... I'm no longer fearful, or not for long anyway :) It's a lot of deprogramming, possibly from lifetimes, but it's worth it xxx

Totally agree with you
Jasmine-Pheobe Taylor, I think you totally have the right idea. I've learned to analyze it like that as well and it's a very useful tool. Like others have already stated, ignoring and pushing away your fear or subconsiously pretending it doesn't exist is not going to help matters, just delay the healing process. Evolutionarily speaking, fear has actually played a very important part of the survival of the human species. Same goes with any animal, really. Fear keeps you out of danger. So it's not exactly the enemy many people think it is however it's a double edged sword. It can hinder us from spiritually evolving if we let it.

On the other hand, fear has given us one of the most wonderful of human characteristics - bravery. Without fear, there can be no bravery. Some may initially disagree but I can tell you this is true. Bravery does not mean having lack of fear. Lack of fear can be caused by many things such as ignorance of the danger, foolhardiness, or just plain stupidity. None of them make you brave of heart. Bravery means being afraid of something, but facing it anyway despite the possible/probable consequnces.

I'm rambling again, sorry. My view is that we should not cast off fear all together. But we need to rise above being dictated by it. We need to use it as the tool that it is. After all, in many cases fear brings to the surface many things about ourselves that we never knew were there.
i have one you might try.all you do is take every negative thought that comes up.And ask yourself why you think it is a bad thing, and then simply ask yourself what good thing is the opposite of that thought. Evry negative thuoght has an opposite in love, and when you find that is when you free your mind. Fear is there as a learning tool,so that you can find its positive opposite. It is what teaches devine wisdom.
Hi there,

I totally agree, Fear is the mind killer. I find the easiest way to combat fear is to just realise you are a spiritual being and not a body. In truth you have lived many times before and will live again, so it helps to know this and approach life as a game and not seriously. haha!

The fastest way to get into a fearful state of mind is to be serious about whatever you are thinking about or doing. haha, being serious will really stick you! As a spiritual being you are immortal. Wow, isn't that amazing! So what is the worst that can happen? If you think you are a body, well that is just sad. :)

As a Scientologist, i understand how the mind works extremely well. There are countless things that can restimulate people and make them experience fear or any negative emotion or thought, but once a person really KNOWS they are a spiritual being and have subjective (and objective) reality on this fact themselves then life is never the same again. haha!

A practical technique I use everyday to extrovert my attention after a hard days work is simply to take a walk. This is a process that was devised by L Ron Hubbard who founded Scientology and you can read more about it in a book called The Problems Of Work. I simply take a walk, looking out at things in the environment until I feel extroverted and refreshed, usually the longer i walk the better i feel. haha!

L Ron Hubbard wrote a poem called 'The Joy of Creating' in which he said 'Force yourself to laugh and you'll soon find something to laugh about', and there is nothing truer.

The best way of beating fear I know is to get into your nearest Scientolgy Church and enroll in a short course, for example the Personal Efficiency course which you can complete 2.5 hours (one evening). This will make every difference.

Hope this helps. Love and light, and enjoy your journey!

Mark
A few Christmases ago, I meditated on Archangel Michael's Litanies and realized that Love really is the most powerful thing in the Universe and that it is the key to all. So now if a worry crosses my mind, I either dismiss it or I change the images so there is no worry. I wrap people up in loving light and do not fear them no matter what "vibes" I feel. I keep my thoughts full of love and light and wrap myself up if I need to. I really do not fear anything anymore, I manifest and transmute instead.
This fear and doubt thing is what I am going through right now, but I am overcoming it. The more I can suppress the fear the more of a change I am making to myself. Every time I feel myself slipping I just repeat something my guides told me and that is, (seeds of doubt, throw them out). It really helps. I have told others about this technique. So far I have found for myself anyway, that fear and doubt are the hardest obstacle. I keep telling myself that I can make any thing happen that I want, but I just have to believe it to be true.
